SUMS-UKM International Joint Ph.D. Program
in Ageing Science Scholarship Guidelines for 2025

1. Eligibility

  Those who have been accepted into the International Joint Ph.D. Program in Ageing Science at Shiga University of Medical Science with excellent results in the entrance examination and who have applied for this scholarship.

2. Scholarship Period

  48 months (4 years from the admission)

3. Scholarship Coverage

  ?Monthly stipend: 150,000 JPY
  ?Travel expenses to study at UKM in the second year:
   Flight tickets between Kansai International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (a round-trip, economy class)

4. Number of Recipients

  1 person per year

5. How to Apply

  Tick the “Apply” checkbox for the Scholarship on the application form of SUMS-UKM International Joint Ph.D. Program in Ageing Science

6. Application Deadline

  Wednesday, June 4, 2025
  (must be postmarked by this date, which is also the final application submission deadline)

7. Result Notice

  Mid-September, 2025

8. Additional information

  1. Withdrawal:
    If a candidate decides to decline the scholarship after being selected, a withdrawal letter must be prepared by their main supervisor to the International Center of SUMS.
  2. Payments cancellation or suspension:
    Scholarship payments will be canceled or suspended under the following circumstances:
    1. Withdrawal from the SUMS-UKM International Joint Ph.D. Program in Ageing Science after selected
    2. Changing the program from the SUMS-UKM International Joint Ph.D. Program in Ageing Science after selected
    3. Taking a leave of absence, withdrawal from the university, or transferring to another institution
    4. Completing the program before the scholarship period ends
    5. Being found any false information in the application
    6. Being deemed ineligible due to gross negligence, inactivity, grave misconduct, serious violation of laws or regulations, etc.
    7. Receiving other scholarships or grants exceeding 600,000 JPY per year from other institutions
  3. Compliance requirements:
    Recipients must comply with the following:
    1. Commit to study by:
      1. continuing their studies at both universities without interruption
      2. completing the doctoral program within the standard period of study
    2. Submit a report to the President of SUMS that includes the approval of their main supervisor
    3. Refrain from any act that violates laws or public order
