Japanese Language Class Completion Ceremony for Spring, AY2024
On Friday, August 30, 2024, 28 international students and researchers gathered for Japanese Language Class Completion Ceremony, which is held at the end of each semester, and 12 of them are involved in the Career Development Program.
The participants received their certificates from the Director Ikuo Tooyama, Head of the International Center. Following the certificate presentation, 6 students (with 1 absent) who completed the Japanese language classes gave speeches reflecting on their experiences in the program. Afterward, Professor Yutaka Kato, Deputy Head of the International Center, presented commemorative gifts. And finally, Chihiro Yamaoka sensei and Mayumi Toyama sensei who teach the Japanese language classes gave comments on the past 6 months.
During the graduates' speeches, the students listened to their classmates with nodding heads, while the teachers watched with great confidence as the graduates spoke in Japanese. In the opening and closing addresses, Director Tooyama and Professor Kato offered messages of understanding and encouragement to the students, acknowledging their effort to learn Japanese despite their busy research schedules. It became an opportunity for the participants to heighten their motivation toward learning Japanese.
